Travelled to the KOA @ St. Mathieu-de-Rioux. In the afternoon we went to Pointe-au-Pere (Father Point). This was the last stop of The Empress of Ireland to drop off the Pilots before heading out to sea.
The ship was rammed by another ship in the St. Lawrence a few hours later and sank in 14 minutes. 1012 lives were lost…including my great great aunt Annie Juniper and her 4 year old son Arther. (She was my grandmother Johnson’s Aunt)
We went through the Maritime Historic Site museum on the site.
